I took this pic in a toy store in Ikebukura while browsing. There was a little girl dancing to the theme song but she always darted out of camera as I was taking the photo! Enjoy!

Well one of the most famous sites, SOS is saying farewell and passing on the mantle of Saving our Sailors to whomever is willing (that's your cue SOSAU!). SOS has been one of the oldest sites online, and in fact was one of the first SM sites I ever visited, however through the years they have built the reputation of spreading rumours, misinformation, etc, etc, etc... I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. ;) Taking this into account, when reading their final report, take note that A LOT of it is speculation based on their own beiefs and not facts. Here's an example:
In Japan (as in the U.S.) producers hold back on releasing DVDs to help keep a good series on the air in repeats. Release DVDs too early and they can kill a series in repeats. Emotion (Bandai Visual's Home Video company in Japan), is wasting no time in releasing DVDs of PGSM. This is still yet another signal that Toei is expecting little repeatability of the series. It's the smart thing to do under the current circumstances.
Um, actually in Japan DVDs come out almost immediately after the show/movie airs. It has nothing to do with repeats as PGSM most likely won't repeat until the whole series has finished. We're expecting around 50 episodes for this one season and normally after one season in Japan, the next one starts immediately leaving no space for repeats while the next season is in production (what happenes with shows in the US and OZ as most English speaking shows only have 26 episode seasons).
Another sign of Toei's current Sailormoon strategy is in their merchandise. All of it is for PGSM and none of it is for the anime. It's as if the anime had never existed. And when it comes to any graphics associated with the merchandise it seems to be always a Naoko drawing and not the anime style.
It's as if the anime finished airing YEARS AGO..... Of course they would market a new show. On a side note, they admit there is cartoon merchandise, they say it's in a slightly different style??? What's it going to be guys?
I could make comments on the whole article but quite frankly it's too long. Happy reading! http://www.iwaynet.net/~sos/kablooey.html
Well the second Pretty Guardian Sailormoon
album came out yesterday, so I headed into Shibuya and picked myself up a copy! Now, within 24 hours of it's release, Moonkitty.NET offers you, our loyal visitors the first review of the cd online!
As with the first DJ Moon CD, DJ Moon 2 not only features backgound music and songs from teh tv series, but also a radio play that continues on every second track. So while there are 21 tracks on the cd, 11 of those are "DJ Tracks" which feature parts of the radio play. Some people think of this as an added bonus, others, like myself are of the opinion that the "DJ Tracks" are simply a way of filling out out a rather sparse release, especially when you consider that 2 of the songs on this cd where released on DJ 1; C'est la vie & the opening theme, Pretty Sailor Dream.
Admitedly though, the opening theme does sound slightly different than the one released on the single and DJ 1. There seems to be more sound effects and beats added, and the levels appear to have been played with to make it seem more
epic. But essentially you're paying about ¥3000 (AU$30 approx) for 8 tracks.
Of the 8 new tracks, there are some stand outs and some that you'll find yourself skimming through.
Two of the hits on the album (and much requested ones) are Track 3, which contains the orchstral version of the opening theme, a swingy everyday bgm, and some goofy Usagy music and Track 10 which finally includes Sailor Venus' transformation theme, some omminous battle music, and some tragic Dark Kingdom music. I know a LOT of people will buy the cd just for these two tracks and it's easy to see why.
Other tracks worth listening to are;
Track 18 (sung by Sailor Mercury) which is simply AMAZING. This has got to be the best written and sung song on teh series so far! This could make it to the top 10 in any country (maybe if it was in English). It's hard to believe Mercury sings this song!
Track 20, Sakura Fubuki (sung by Sailor Mars), which while not as cool as Mercury's song, still rules. This'll sound strange, but it truly sounds like an Anime style song. You'll know what I mean once you hear it. This is the song that Rei sings in the Act where Minako tricks her into performing at the hospital and later awakens as a soldier.
As you can see, it's very hard to find a rating for this cd. I'm glad I bought it and it does make a great addition to my collection, though I
really wish there was more on it in the way of new songs. I guess it's really up to you to decide on what I've written and how you feel about these issues.
Rating: inconclusive.
