More Sailor Moon on Animax

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News.
The massive international TV channel, Animax sure has been a huge supporter of the Sailor Moon anime recently.

They were the first channel in Japan let alone the world to begin screening the anime after the rights were released (well, relaxed and made open to negotiation anyway) and have done a pretty good job of promoting Sailor Moon in it's Japanese channel's commercials.

Recently Animax has been featuring the Japanese voice actress for Sailor Moon, Kotono Mitsuishi as well as two of the directors of the anime in a show called Creators.

You can see clips of this show on YouTube. Nothing really big to report but they do go into the usual conversation about what it was like in the beginning making the show and how it grew in popularity.

It isn't subbed in English but you can fairly easily get the gist of what they're saying.

For those that don't know what Animax is, it's basically a cable channel that focuses on airing almost entirely anime though also airs random shows like Wipeout. In the past few years it's grown more and more and expanded throughout Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Latin America, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and more! This channel is huge and screens retro animes like Slayers for example but also the latest newest anime like Bleach, Inuyasha and Idaten Jump.

Currently only the Japanese Animax channel shows Sailor Moon but since it has got the license it seems to be a very good idea to keep our eyes on local Animax channels for any future Sailor Moon airing opportunities.

Will keep you posted if I hear anything else!

p.s. Stay tuned this weekend for a combo Roundup and Moonie Music Monday as well as some extra info on some sections and... the winner to the Twitter competition!

A Visit to Sailor Mars' Hikawa Jinja

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News.
Real life has really gotten in the way of my site plans recently and for that I really apologise.

I've been working full time six days a week and any free time I've had has been spent applying and interviewing for new jobs which hopefully will start next month.

For the next two weeks it's really going to hit the fan as one of the companies I work for will be making everyone work on the next two Sundays which means.... 14 days straight of work! Yay! I'll still be updating with any interesting and amazing Sailor Moon news and of course will try my hardest to post the Roundups and Moonie Music Mondays but will most likely combine the two features until late March when my time will free up more.

Now funnily enough, one of the job interviews I went to on Friday just happened to be literally across the road from the Hikawa Jinja that was the inspiration for Sailor Mars' shrine in the manga (different temples were used for the anime and live action versions)! I'd been here once before with Jay from Genvid but that was three or so years ago and I hadn't been since.

Out of curiosity I decided to check out the wish tags and see if there were any Sailor Moon fans who had visited the shrine recently. I didn't really expect to see anything Sailor Moon related but right on the top row were two tags with some amazing Sailor Moon artwork and messages in Japanese that basically read (I will punish you!). Here's the photo I took on my phone of them!

Pretty cool that Sailor Moon fans still visit the shrine on a regular basis!

Now here's your Sailor Moon music video spotlight! In kind of a musical mood right now so thought I would feature one of my favourite songs from the musicals featuring Yu Shirota and Marina, New Moonlight Romance.

I really hope the musicals come back for the 20th anniversary!

Now for the roundup! (busy! busy!)

  • There's a cool new Italian Sailor Moon poster here.

  • & a fanmade Sailor Moon DVD menu here.

  • Love Chinese New Year and Sailor Moon? This is for you!

  • Some great PGSM reunion photos here!

  • LOVE the new layout at Ayaka502.net!

  • A HILARIOUS Sailor Stars Moon Sticks!

  • New hi res gallery at SMFFG!

  • And finally all the new Sailor Moon CDs seem to be keeping all the same covers of the originals meaning they're just regular rereleases but still a Sailor Moon product release nevertheless. I will be picking up a few as they are pretty cheap and the only Sailor Moon CDs I have are musical, PGSM or NA Dub.

In site news I have updated the Sailor Moon Channel Layout Archive with February's layout. I'll also be getting around to regular site emails and tweets sometime this week I hope (if I have time). Keep sending in Moonie Mailbag questions! I WILL answer them whenever I get the chance. If you haven't been answered yet, don't worry! You WILL be!

That's about it for now! Comment below, follow on Twitter and have a great week!

Sailor Moon Roundup and Moonie Music Monday

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News.
To save me posting twice within 12 hours of each post I've decided to combine the Sailor Moon Roundup and Moonie Music Monday this week into one post.

Let's start with the music video spotlight! After last week's crazy video I'm getting back into the Glee vibe of things with a rather fun music video to No Air. Unlike the previous No Air video this one is actually sung by the Glee Cast and is simply amazing.

I love the use of dialogue from the anime and it's also interesting how (while it's not) the song sounds like it could be sung by Terri Hawkes (Sailor Moon's voice actress in these clips). The voices are a pretty good match!

Anyway give it a watch and let me know what you think!

In site news I've been thrown for a bit of a loop with Blogger's decision to discontinue FTP publishing. 90% sure I'm going to say goodbye to them and convert to Wordpress. It's just really annoying and frankly it's p*&%ing me off.

On a happier note I've created a new Sailor Moon image gallery with all the new images that have been released lately.

    Meanwhile elsewhere:

  • There's a special Valentine's Day strip from Moon Sticks!

  • There's a special VDay wallpaper at U&MUniverse.com

  • It's started writing articles at Bukisa. If you're interested in reading them (Yoga, Japan and cooking related) you can see my profile here.

  • One of the most promising Sailor Moon fan films has a new website! More info here. It looks REALLY GOOD!

  • Last week I forgot to mention that there's an English version of the Italian Sailor Moon official site.

  • Sailor Moon Obsession continues to post about some fantastic cosplayers!

That's about it for this week!

p.s. Don't forget there's only a few more days left to enter the competition and win yourself a Sailor Moon CD & Book set!

Happy Valentine's and Chinese New Year everyone!

    恭喜發財,利是逗來

    New Sailor Moon Images

Recently a lot of new official Sailor Moon images have been release in the Italian press to promote the series.

To celebrate this and to help collect all these images in one place, I've created a New Sailor Moon Images Section!

There is a few missing so I'll add those shortly.

Hope you like them and find them useful. There are some GREAT images here! My personal fave is the one above.

    Sailor Moon Carameldansen

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News.
There's this crazy on YouTube called "Carameldansen" which features random characters doing the same dance against music.

They're all very cute and normally offer a humourous way to see characters that wouldn't normally be dancing.

A few weeks ago a follower on twitter sent me this link and I faved the video as soon as I saw it!

Not only is Moon and Mini Moon well drawn but the artist has thrown in transformations into the mix to include all their anime forms AND several civilian costumes!

Hope you like it as much as I do!

p.s. You've probably noticed I've been doing some layout updates here and there this weekend to make the site a little more streamlined. Included with this update was a a completely new footer for the site. Can you find the special Moonie Easter Egg? It offers a little bit of an extra Moonie Music joy for those who find it!

Sailor Moon Sightings and a Roundup!

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News.
Hey guys! Having a good week?

As you can probably tell I've been doing some more fiddling with the site's layout. I asked all you awesome people who follow MKNET on Twitter what they liked and didn't like concerning the side nav and pretty much everyone agreed getting rid of the Interviews banner was the way to go. Opinions on the DVD info was split 50/50 so I shrank the amount of space it took up but kept the links there as I've been getting a lot of emails and tweets telling me how useful people find them.

I also added some social bookmarking icons to the top part of the site and am curious which ones people actually use. I'm definitely keeping StumbleUpon but am unsure how popular the others are. Please comment below and let me know what you personally do or don't use. Less is more I always say! ;)

While cleaning up the site I also shrank the Donators section and created a whole new page for all that jazz. Thanks again to everyone that's donated so far! Every little bit helps and is muchly appreciated!

    Now onto the news!

Just yesterday I was walking through Kinokuniya in Shinjuku and saw the pamphlet for the new Sailor Moon DVDs on the wall as well as the larger shiny metalic poster behind the counter.

Was really surprised as this is the first time I'd seen any Sailor Moon advertising for the new Sailor Moon DVDs at all.

Someone on the staff must be a Moonie because as I kept walking through the manga section I saw all the Sailor Moon manga out in prime position right near the entrance!

The little sign simply talks about how this is the manga the anime was based on, it being the whole series and also mentions the side stories.

    Very nice to see!

    Elsewhere on the Moonie web:

  • Three-Lights.net has just updated with what has to be one of my favourite Sailor Moon layouts of all time!!! SUCH AN AMAZING LAYOUT GUYS!!! Check it out!

  • Dreaming Moon has some cool scans worth checking out.

  • A Fruitful Spring has some photos from yet another PGSM reunion!!!

  • The Deep Submerge Directory has a new layout for the new year! Me like!

  • Star Dusting has new media worth checking out!

  • There's a brand new Sailor Moon site online that's focusing on the show's relaunch in Italy, SailorMoonWorld.it! They've got a really fresh layout and some great information on the show in Italy as well as peaks at the brand new Sailor Moon artwork that's been created for the show there. I love this site so much I've just affiliated with it! Check it out guys!

  • The Sailor Moon Funny Faces Gallery is heading in a new direction.

  • The latest Moonsticks comic is hilarious!

    Sailor Moon's Queen Beryl Interviewed

Recently I had the pleasure to sit down and interview the wonderfully skilled voice actress of the Sailor Moon anime's first villain Queen Beryl, Naz Edwards!

She's an absolute legend and offers some great insight into the early years of the English dub.

Read the interview here and make sure to tell your friends! ;)

p.s. This post is gratefully sponsored by Blast Off, the new book by Allison Maslan. Thanks!

    Sailor Moon Defying Gravity

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News.
Continuing with the Glee theme, this time with a Sailor Moon music video set to a version of a song from the actual show, Defying Gravity!

I love this song and was pretty impressed with this music video (despite the annoying unnecessary opening "credits" which almost made me decide to exclude it).

    What do you think?
