Sorry for the missing posts this week. Life got in the way but am back on track!
The SMFFG has been updating like crazy and has their second podcast online. Due to my real life I wasn't available for the interview but hopefully they'll have me sometime in the future when our schedules align once more. (Time difference is a real bastard.)
Unfortunately a LOT of Miyuki Kanbe's and a few of Marina Kuroki's DVDs are now out of stock in most online retailers so you may find a few regular dead text "links" where regular links are.
I think quite a few people should find these pages useful as I get quite a few people asking where to get the DVDs and a couple of the online stores make it almost impossible to find them (i.e. a search for "Sailor Moon" has zero results).
What a great musical! There have been so many "Sailor Stars" musicals but (as with all of Marina's musicals) they used the basic plot of the original, improved it dramatically, added lots of new characterisation and a bunch of new songs. Also lots of superior dance moves, special & visual effects and a hell of a performance by Yu Shirota which made him my number one favourite Tuxedo Mask out of all the actors that have played the role. Talk about talented! Check out this clip from the musical performing Kaze no Shijin / The Poet of the Wind:
Hope you enjoy the guide. Expect a few more online soon!
First of all, I want to give a BIG special thanks to Leticia Cosmos from SOSSailorMoon.com.br and Heather for both offering to donate images to my Sailor Moon Channel Archive! I was so surprised and honoured to get such fast and willing responses to my request. It really touched me! However, The Oracle gave me open access to her own complete archive (which I eventually went with) which just blew my mind! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! People's generosity never ceases to amaze me.
I'd also like to express (as always) how much I appreciate the comments to these posts. Keep them coming!
Now onto the news:
The SMFFG has started their own, very cool, Sailor Moon Podcast. The first episode is up for free download right now and guess what? They'll be interviewing me for the podcast in the new future! How exciting is that!
The Deep Submerge Directory has added some new links and a new policy concerning direct linking. DIRECT LINKING IS BAD PEOPLE!!! DON'T DO IT!!!
If you haven't yet, check out Sailor Moon Abridged! I watched the first 9 episodes or so back to back last night and haven't laughed so much in years! Hilarious parody of Sailor Moon.
Yeah, I know Christmas is over... but I just stumbled upon this hillarious Sailor Moon fan film that completely takes the piss out of Sailor Moon, the Inners and Luna and Artemis!!!
Seriously the best Sailor Moon fan film I've ever seen! Hilariously perfect scripting and voice acting!
If you love this video as much as I did you should check out their website! The entire first season "abridged"! How have i not seen this site sooner??? Book mark it now!
The Sailor Moon Funny Faces Gallery which has been updating heaps lately has updated again with some new icons, galleries and some sad news about someone direct linking to her site. This same person has also been doing the same to U&MUniverse.com. For those that don't know, when you link to an image's location that is hosted on someone else's website (i.e. not yours) it costs that person money. For example if you post on discussion forums, you should ALWAYS upload your avatar to the forum itself instead of linking to it's web (http://) online location. Direct linking is inconsiderate and in the worst case, insulting to the person who spent time to make the file as sometimes people even link to the files and claim that they made them. P.S. All icons and avatars on Moonkitty.NET are free for use but please don't link to the files. Save them and them upload them to your own account for use. Wallpapers and other graphics are for users own personal use and cannot be uploaded to other websites.
Update: As I was writing this, Usagi from U&MUniverse.com emailed me to inform me that this ba*&@^%rd is direct linking to all of my Christmas icons!!! Grrrrrrr!!!! I've left a comment for him and emailed his hosting company asking them to delete his account or at least give him a warning. I'm a nice guy, but this won't be tolerated! It's costing me money, man!
The Oracle has done some extensive updating on several pages.
I'm starting to feel a bit depressed. While working on my Sailor Moon Musical Guide I've been watching all the musicals (95% for the first time) and now I'm almost to the end! If you've seen every episode of the Anime and live action drama (PGSM), the Musicals are well worth your time. I've become an avid fan a lot quicker than I thought I would! I think I'd even place the Musicals over the Sailor Moon Anime!
And as I mentioned in my previous post, the official site has updated it's layout for the New Year and with it a message from Naoko Takeuchi. Yesterday when I posted about this I sent an email off to a friend of mine who's a professional interpreter for a translation. Amazingly when I checked my email this morning, Elly (from SMFFG) emailed me with a translation as well as a graphic manipulated English version! Furthermore, Lily (from BSSMLA) commented on the post and after speaking with Yosenex (a friend of mine and hers) gave me his translation.
It just really touched me that people would go out of their way to help me like this. So THANK YOU Elly, Lily, Yosenex and my anonymous friend.
In order, here's the professional translation:
Princess Naoko's Room: We will upload from now and then letters or photos received from Ms. Naoko Taketuchi aka Princess Naoko to this room.
"Last fall, Princess Naoko visited BANDAI Hobby Center in Shizuoka and had a site tour of GANPURA or Gandam Plamodel (plastic model) production lines and she said she had lots of fun. The illustration on the left was drawn by Princess Naoko as a token of her visit, showing Usagi in Bandai Hobby Center's uniform. The work has been displayed inside the Bandai Hobby Center."
Elly's translation (with the Japanese for those studying!):
Made by Elly
直子姫こと武内直子先生から届いたおたよりや写真を、時々公開するわよ。 Sometimes Naoko Takeuchi as Princess Naoko shows her nerd side to the public in photos!
2009年1月1日更新 Update for January 1st, 2009
To Bandai Hobby Center
ガンプラエ場楽しかったでーす<3 Playing with plastic gundam EVAs was fun <3
去年の秋 Last autumn
直子姫は静岡県の Princess Naoko went to
バンダイホビーセンターに行ってガンプラ 「(ガンダム)のプラモデル」 Shizuoka prefecture's Bandai Hobby Center, and
エ場を見学してきたよ got to check out the Gunpura (Gundam plastic models).
とってもたのしかったって It was really fun, and
左のイラストは、直子姫が見学記念 in the illustration to your left, Princess Naoko, smiling like a cat

ホビーセンターの中に飾ってあるわよ Right now it's a decoration in the Bandai Hobby Center
And Yosenex's summary via Lily:
she did some art for a bandai hobby shop she went to a bandai hobby shop that had gundam models. the message that usagi is saying in the bubble says: Gundam Plastic Factory was fun!
So it's basically about a visit to Bandai and an artwork she drew. What it doesn't mention is that Gundam is celebrating it's 30th Anniversary this year in Japan and several famous manga artists have drawn their characters in Gundam situations or costumes. Here's opne of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle's Sakura and Mokona!
Cool news is that it looks like the Sailor Moon Channel will be more active this year!
While I'll still be writing the Sailor Moon Roundup tomorrow it seemed really appropriate to mention that the Official Site has updated with a New Year Message From Naoko Takeuchi! It shows a photo of herself (pretty rare in itself) holding a new Sailor Moon artwork she drew in October (new Sailor Moon artwork, also pretty rare!). I'm getting a friend of mine to translate it for me (way too much kanji for me right now) and will update this post as to what it says.
Also interesting is an official reply in the site's Mailbox that says the following (through a rough Google translation) after a fan expressed interest in Sailor Moon new updates:
Guidance of a star ... you may encounter destiny! Regards to this year's Sailor Moon ☆
Very easy to assume that there'll be something new concerning Sailor Moon coming out in 2009, but it could also very easily be interpreted as "I'm sure this year will be good".
Ah, and the site has also updated (as expected) it's layout for January which seems like the perfect opportunity for me to reveal my new Sailor Moon Channel Layout Archive! Hope you find it useful!
And also as a special present from me to all visitors, friends and affiliates of Moonkitty.NET:
