Got a wonderful news story sent to me from Moonkitty.NET reader, MegaSonic55 via email. Turns out Sailor Moon has made it's place in Toonami history over at
Toonami Inner Circle in a special The 10 Greatest Moments of Toonami feature.
The premier of the third anime season, Sailor Moon S came in at number seven:
The initial run of Sailor Moon in the United States left us hanging for more. It wasn't until 1998 when viewers saw the final half of the Sailor Moon R, which was, until then, a Canadian exclusive for years. The series ended with the pretty soldiers looking back at how much their lives have changed when they learned they were protectors of the Moon Kingdom and Serena learning of her lineage as the Moon Princess. The last moments showed a pair of warriors in silhouette as well as a nightmare Rei keeps on having that predicted what's to come. Naturally, this was a teaser for the Sailor Moon S season. However, production had stopped on Sailor Moon years before the dubbed episode premiered in the US, so Sailor Moon S was lost in the annals of space. Well, nobody licensed them here in the states.
Cloverway, Toei Animation's former US-based subsidary before they officially opened an American office in Los Angeles, produced the new season in Canada and premiered it in the summer of 2000.
The end result was one of the best produced season of Sailor Moon ever. Sailor Moon S proved what that the longtime fans of Sailor Moon had been trying to tell everyone. Sailor Moon is actually a great show! This season had it all. Action, comedy, drama, romance, and a plot that guys and gals could enjoy. Like Gundam Wing, which premiered on Toonami the same year, it was one of those shows that brought in both of the sexes. Sailor Moon S stood out as one of the crowning moments in Toonami history.Pretty cool, no?
In other news, Jared from
Genvid has posted about his experience at the Tokyo Anime Fair and has found out that people with a Japanese credit card can download certain anime series including Sailor Moon from iTunes! Apparently the first episodes are free.
And finally some sad news. You know that Nintendo Wii game that was reported last week? Well.... YesAsia has removed the link to it from their website. Maybe it's not happening afterall... or they could have been told to remove it until it's officially announced. We just don't know at this stage.

Word's been spreading like wild fire this weekend since a member of Genvid found a listing for
a Sailor Moon game on the Nintendo Wii due for release in December of this year at YesAsia. Several people have emailed YesAsia concerning this listing and everyone has been told that this is a legitimate release information given to them from the supplier.
Genvid has some great information on their main page about the companies involved. It's interesting that Namco/Bandai and Toei are now investing in each other's companies which lends credence to the game.
Personally, I'm curious as to which version of Sailor Moon the game will be based. Odds are it'll be anime based but it'd be interesting of they based it on the manga or live action show. I'm also hyped about the possibility of using the Wii-mote to perform certain attacks.
The game though may not be a fighting game. It could just as easily be a Mario Party kind of game.
In other news, another Japanese artist is releasing Moonlight Romance remixed. This time in 8bit style. Check out a sample of the song
HERE.
