Sailor Moon Roundup

Sailor Moon Anime, Manga, Movie, Live Action and Musical (Sera Myu) News. I'm really sorry for the lack of updates. I've been suffering a major case of the flu since Tuesday and just havn't had the energy to do anything major at all. Sometimes even looking at my monitor for more than 3 minutes was too much.

But I'm feeling better now, and here's some cool news: Someone has uploaded the first episode of the Sailor Moon rip off, Super Twins onto YouTube, split into four parts.

Super Twins Episode 1 Part 1
Super Twins Episode 1 Part 2
Super Twins Episode 1 Part 3
Super Twins Episode 1 Part 4

I rather enjoyed it and was REALLY surprised by the story! I was expecting childish superhero action within the first few minutes but the girls don't even appear let alone transform in this episode at all! The whole episode is kind of like a Revenge of the Sith to A New Hope, dealing with where the twin's powers come from and the fate of their parents. The acting was a bit corny, but hey that's Asian drama for you.

P.S. The song during the ending credits is really catchy!

Its not nice to say Asian Drama Acting in general is corny. I don't know about this series, since I don't intend to watch it, but there is still quite a lot of Talent from Asian Countries.

Oh, I agree there is a lot of talent Asian countries have to offer... but almost all tv drama shows from these countries have bad acting, low production values and a directorial style from 20 years ago. Even people from these countries will admit this. I'm hardly out of line. ;)

Being Asian myself, I've seen countless Asian Drama and find that the acting are generally quite good. Perhaps it was simply the casting in "Super Twins" with inexperienced/new actors.

I'm Asian myself, and I have to totally agree with Brad. My parents subscribe to Asian television, and the channel that aired "super twins" is one of channels we get. And I'll admit, most of the shows on those channels have bad acting, horrible effects, and brad mentioned an outdated directorial style . My brother and I sometimes watch Asian TV shows just for laughs. However, I'm sure they're not all bad, I came across this one show, I can't remember the title but it was in Chinese and the acting wasn't that bad, pretty good even.

But from the shows I have seen, I have to say that Asian TV generally has bad acting.

There were actually one or two okay actors in Super Twins I thought (the scientist lady for example) but for the most part it was like Bold and the Beautiful on crack. Of course there are some great Asian Dramas, I'm just talking about my impression of the genre overall.
I know in Japan at least Dramas don't get a very high budget, but kids shows like Kamen Rider Hibiki and Goro (two amazing action shows!) get better actors, directing and a huge special effects budget due to the money made from toys, cds and other merchandise. It's funny, but kids shows in Japan are BETTER than those made for adults. The Drama genre is in serious need of help.

Another problem with Asian Dramas is that they seem to target the middleaged housewife audience so they keep their stories incredible cliched and old fashioned with love triangles, twins and affairs as that's what that generation feel comfortable with. Korean Dramas are HUGE in Japan because of how old fashioned they are.
